Image
Us as women always seem to have so much of our plates. Our families, our friends, our households… But we also have our careers. And I am sure I am not the only one that feels that one or more of these have been neglected because of my career. I know that I put in over 60 hours of work weekly, if not more. I have jumped feet first into my business and my career to help make my dreams come true. I’ve been told I work too much, that I have an obsessive personality, that I’m a bad friend… I have been told a lot of things from people who love me very much. People who are concerned that I’m working too hard. But in my mind, I’m providing for myself, trying to reach levels of success I hadn’t before, and make a better life for my future.
I know I'm not the only working woman that feels this way. The feeling as if I have let people down due to my obsession to work harder. But as I reached higher, I realized I had nothing to feel bad or guilty about. That my actions and hard work had broug…

DARK-SKINNED PRINCESS: Rachel Dolezal living in a world all her own.

Image
I'm usually not one to write on other people's beliefs and lives, but in the last couple of days I've seen so much that I have to ask, are we all going fucking crazy?! We have all become so afraid of being politically correct that we can't call bullshit when we see it. The topics I am referring to is Rachel Dolezal (who I've written an article on before) Now I’m going to stress I’m not downplaying anyone for feeling a certain way. But it is when people are getting recognition and the fact that this is now considered news. Here is my humble opinion on the Rachel Dolezal situation:

The Authorpreneur Business Plan

Image
When you are starting a new business, having a business plan is vital. However, when you are an aspiring author and writer, coming up with a traditional business plan is may be a bit more difficult. Due to traditional publishing being so competitive and self-publishers coming out of the wood work, it is even more critical to have a business plan for yourself if you are going to become a successful full time writer.

Short Story Writing: Get Started

Image
As a new budding author, planning to self-publish, I have heard more than once that you need both quality and quantity for your readers to have. With that I know it is important to get readers in the first place. I have been using twitter for some time and I heard that Google+ is a great avenue as well. I went on and created a community for Dames who wanted to talk about their writing and blogging.

Short Story Writing Challenge

Image
So after finding iAuthor I wanted to push myself with my writing and I came up with my own personal challenge. (more on this to be featured in an article Monday 2/20/14). I am going to be selecting an iAuthor photo and creating a short story from it, every week, for four weeks.
I thought it would be great if you wanted to join me. I wanted this to be a twofold challenge.

A challenge for Yourself: To me this is the most important challenge, and the entire reason that I even thought about this. I feel it’s important to always push and challenge yourself to be the best writer you can be.
Compete with Others: To make this a true challenge I thought it would be interesting to post the short stories right here on Dame in the Life and have people vote on their favorites. I know there are platforms out there for these things but I think it would be fun to share this with my readers.
