KNOWING YOUR WORTH: A Dames Guide to Confidence

Being a woman is both wonderful and difficult. More so than men, we are constantly being compared to one another and to our male counterparts. If you come across as too strong, that is intimidating and a turn off, however if you are too soft and sweet in nature, people may tend to walk all over you. This is where you need to know your worth. Knowing you're worth is always having confidence in yourself, but that is a lot easier said than done. We have all struggled with this at some point, and may continue to struggle with each new chapter in our lives. But it is important to find it, know it, and embrace it early on so that you don't allow others or your own negativity consume you. Here are some key tips on how to find your worth, know worth and embrace your worth.

Don't compare:

One of the worst things that you can do is compare yourself to others. If seeing your friends
and family succeed pushes you to better yourself, than great. However, continuously comparing yourself to them can become very unhealthy. You are an unique individual with your own purpose in life. Understand that your path will never be the same as someone else. Your friends may be graduating, getting married, or having kids, but this doesn't mean this is for you, right now. Engagement rings posted on Facebook by friends does not mean you will never get married. It just means now isn't your time. The only person you need to compare yourself to is yourself. See how far you have come from your past and make sure to set goals for the future.

You are exactly where you should be:

Nobody makes perfect decisions in life. At any given time we will have to take a detour in our
path to where we want to go. But that isn't always a bad thing. Embrace what you currently have. Make the best out of your current situation and know that in your life you are exactly where you should be. It may take some practice turning lemons into lemonade but it is always possible. You need to live and experience life for yourself to get to your end goal, whatever that maybe.

Don't compromise your values:

Never compromise what you want out of life. Meaning, don't waste your time on something or someone that does not want the same things in life as you do. Wasting away at a job you can't stand, or with a person who you know isn't right for you is not going to make you reach your full potential. Confidence comes from with in; fuel your confidence with positive life decisions that you want. If need be, reevaluate what your core values are and make sure you are holding true to them.

Doubt is toxic:

If you don't believe in yourself no one else will. Only you can let yourself down. So don't. Never underestimate the power of you. Set realistic goals and make sure to meet them. You are the only one who knows how hard you can truly push yourself. For any challenge, make sure to prove it to yourself before you prove it to anyone else. And when the time comes, you will know that no matter what challenges are put in front of you, you will be able to tackle it head on.

Surround yourself with positive influences:

If you're the smartest person in the room you're in the wrong room. Make sure to keep
positive people around you. Like-minded people. Whether it's your coworkers, your personal circle of friends, or the person you're in a relationship with, make sure they all bring the best out of you. This will help you with your confidence and realize the person you were truly meant to be.
