I Foundation Like a Dame

Ok… I have a confession to make… I have never worn foundation in my life. As I cringe on the gasps from you readers lol… But in my defense, I really never needed it. I would get pale in the winter time, but nothing a tanning booth or some bronzer couldn’t fix. However, I’m a bit older now and my skin isn’t as amazing as it once was. One of the biggest issues that I’ve noticed, is that my skin isn’t even. I have redness and unevenness in color like never before. I’ve also noticed that my once combination skin has both turned into an oil slick and a patch of flakey snake skin all at the same time. Please don’t ask me how. But I finally pulled the trigger on diving into shopping for that right foundation.

What took so long:
Let me back up just a little bit and say that I am a light skin, have yellow undertones and get red real quick. All that equals me NEVER being able to match a foundation to my skin tone without making me look orange or super washed out. I’ve gone to Ulta and Sephora and Mac and really have tried a little bit of every product at every price range. The products that did work, were so caked on that I wasn’t even interest.

Why Now:
I’ve just started doing videos for YouTube and of course I asked for feed back from those who know me best… And this is what I got “Ummm Meg, where you sick? You need a little color and to put some lipstick on next time.” It was actually pretty funny however, it got me thinking that I am in need of some skin evening magic. And, as I’ve written about, I’ve quit my job to focus on my writing and blogging thus the reason for the videos. Because of this, I know I didn’t want to walk into Ulta or any of those places because I would have left with spending SO much money. So… I did what any rational women would do… I heading to….

Where:

TARGET!! I knew that I didn’t want to drop a lot of money on a foundation that more than likely wouldn’t even work with my skin. So, I went to my local Target and stalked the make-up aisles like a hungry lion. The reason I was walking in circles was because I had no idea what the hell I was looking for! Anti-aging, Dewy face, BB Cream, Pressed Powder, Full coverage… It was dizzying. However, after literally about 45 minutes I landed on Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless in the shade 320. I also picked up Maybellines’ Master Contour, cause as of late, I’ve had to paint on my cheekbones.

When I got home I anxiously ripped everything out of the package and got to applying and blending. On holly shit! This stuff matched my skin tone perfectly. I looked like I was airbrushed, but not like it was caked on. I had finally found my foundation. That matched. In Target. For $5.58.

My takeaway would be, if you are looking for some added coverage, don’t want to spend a lot, and want it to match your skin perfectly, you need to try Maybelline Fit Me.

Let me know what your favorite foundation is, and if you’ve tried Fit me!!
