5 Reason to never feel bad for working  your ass off: Dame in the Life

Us as women always seem to have so much of our plates. Our families, our friends, our households… But we also have our careers. And I am sure I am not the only one that feels that one or more of these have been neglected because of my career. I know that I put in over 60 hours of work weekly, if not more. I have jumped feet first into my business and my career to help make my dreams come true. I’ve been told I work too much, that I have an obsessive personality, that I’m a bad friend… I have been told a lot of things from people who love me very much. People who are concerned that I’m working too hard. But in my mind, I’m providing for myself, trying to reach levels of success I hadn’t before, and make a better life for my future.

I know I'm not the only working woman that feels this way. The feeling as if I have let people down due to my obsession to work harder. But as I reached higher, I realized I had nothing to feel bad or guilty about. That my actions and hard work had brought me the success I was reaping today. I want to give hope to women that are in my similar situation. Here are the top 5 reasons you should never feel bad for working your ass off.

It’s no one else’s job to make you rich

You could work for the most successful company in the world, or have the best job. However, it is not anyone else’s job to make you rich. The owner of the company isn’t going to give all of their assets to their employees. They are, understandably, going to keep as much profit as possible while only paying you a salary or hourly wage. No one is going to go out of their way to make YOU rich. They may share valuable information and knowledge with you, but they will never work to make you rich. That’s not their job. It’s your job. You are the only person that can work to provide true wealth for yourself.

Ambition should never be stifled

Some people are ok with being average. They came into work, put in their 8 hours and go home. They are content with that. BUT if you are the one being told you work too much or are always trying to branch out on your own, that means you have the ambition to be the best you can be. And trust me when I say, there is nothing wrong with that. If you want to become the CEO then you must work for it. It will not land in your lap without any effort put forward. If you have big ideas for a business, don’t push them down. Explore them. Nurture them. Never stifle you ambitions simply to please others. Truly reach for the stars and never look back.

Me, Myself and I

You have people in your corner, family friends… But just as easily as those people are in your life, they can be taken away for many reasons. People get divorced, fall sick, pass away… My father, the provider of my family, passed away at the age of 40. It was fast, unexpected and tragic. It also left us with only one provider in a middle-class family. My mother always worked, but we had what we did because of two strong incomes.

You always have to make sure that you are taken care of, no matter what situations life throws at you. Let’s get real for a moment. Finances are what makes the world go around. The saying money isn’t everything is said from two points of views. 1. People who don’t have any money 2. People that have so much of it, they’ve stopped working for it.

If you find yourself always working, trying to provide a better life for you or your family, remember that you are the only one that can make that happened. Put that responsibility on your shoulders and carry it like a superhero until you’ve reached your ultimate goals.

People in your life will understand

Guilt can be a horrible thing. It can eat at you from the inside out. But one thing that you should never feel guilty about is working too hard. A lot of times working so many hours will make people feel as if they are neglecting their kids, spouses, friends… But the truth is, if they love you, they will understand why you are putting in the hours. No one is going to knock you down when they know you are only trying to better your life.

When it comes to kids, just ensure that you take time out, whenever you can, and give them your full undivided attention. This may sound crazy, but even if you have to schedule them into your day, do it. With everyone else, make sure you simply communicate with them. It’s easy enough to send a text over to check on the people you care about.

Understanding you have to earn your wealth
This very much ties in with the first reason, (It’s no one else’s job to make you rich) however it is slightly different. To me, working and earning are two different things. Hear me out. You go work and receive a paycheck. Possibly large, possibly average. The ‘work’ you do ‘earns’ you that paycheck. But that’s all it’s ever going to be; you working for someone else. To gain true independent wealth, you are going to have to figure out how to earn money on your own. How to create your own wealth. To do this, it will take long hours and a lot of work. If you don’t put in the time you will never reap the benefits. Never feel bad for working your ass off to obtain your own wealth, because no one else is going to do it for you.
